Laura Kenmotsu is a Japanese-American cinematographer based in Brooklyn.

She was born in New Jersey, raised in the Bay Area (with some extended visits to Japan), and recently moved back east to New York. She graduated from San Francisco State University’s Cinema program and was an inaugural member of AFI’s Cinematography Intensive for Women.

Laura is interested in character portraits, family tableaux, exploring truth through mirrors and windows, and shooting beautiful b-roll of intriguing objects. (In other words– documentaries, commercials, narratives and music videos)

She loves collaborating with diverse and inclusive talent in front of and behind the camera, and telling stories from people who have been historically underheard.

She also spent a number of years working in camera department as a 1st AC and still enjoys pulling focus too.
